Kriya, known as evolultionary action, benefits the brain in providing activities that create new neural pathways, ultimately helping one expand beyond their current way of being.
It’s more than a movement practice— it’s a somatic yoga journey intended to amplify your inner light. Each class gives us invitation to breathe and move differntly; creating opportunity to experience ourselves in new ways. This practice goes beyond the yoga pose to unlock deep transformation from the inside out.
Movement as Medicine
Kriya in Sanskrit means “Evolutionary Action”- and in the Yoga world is known as a powerful tool for personal growth. Kriya works to dissolve stuck patterns, clear emotional debris and reset your nervous system— benefitting the subconcious and gene expression (Epigentics). It also plays influence in the raising of kundalini energy, however is not quite as vigorous and rigorous as some types of kundalini yoga.
Breath that Awakens
In this practice, the breath leads the way. It’s not necessarily about perfecting the pose, it’s about the quality of breath as we are in the practice. Through specific pranayama techniques, we activate the pranic body, expand inner vitality, and open gateways to expanded awareness.
Sacred Sound & Subtle Tools
Mantra, mudra, and energy locks (bandhas) are woven into the practice to awaken dormant energy. These subtle tools go far beyond what’s offered in conventional yoga classes.
Rooted in a Himalayan Yoga Lineage
This practice comes from the wisdom of ancient masters— a living tradition that views yoga not as exercise, but as a sacred path to higher consciousness. Light Kriya is influenced by many great yoga practitioners and masters, but does not subscribe authority to a single guru, teacher, or lineage. This practice empowers you to authentically be your own authority on your own unique life-path.
In one class you might tremble, cry, laugh, or feel a surge of energy that brings you to stillness. With every class being a brand new experience to the practicioner, it’s hard to predict what your experience might be like!
Some sets hold more intensity, while others invite in stillness; each class a surprise to help you build presence and acceptance for the current moment experience.
Why I Teach This Practice
For me, Kriya and Kundalini has been a PRICELESS tool for bringing my mental health back to balance. After surviving a life-altering accident and navigating the long road of healing, this practice became a way to clear trauma from my body, rewire my nervous system, liberate me from deep, dark depression and remember who I really am. It’s helped me reclaim joy, presence, and connection — and it’s an honor to now share it with others who are ready for their own awakening and illumination.
